| Meredith Curley Biography |
| |
Hello, my name is Meredith Curley. I currently serve as an Associate Dean for the College of Education at the University of Phoenix where I have been employed for the past eleven years. I oversea regulatory compliance, program expansion, and program development of educator preparation programs in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Analyzing, interpreting, and applying education regulations and understanding state and national initiatives related to educator preparation is quite a challenge, but one I enjoy. I hold a Masters degree in Business Administration, a BA in History and certificates in middle school and secondary social studies as well as adult education. I am currently pursuing a doctorate in Educational Leadership with Argosy University.
I have been very fortunate to work with groups on the state and national level in efforts to improve teacher education. I have served as a member of the Arizona Certification Task Force for the past four years and am currently the co-chairperson of the Arizona Professional Program Approval Committee. Redesigning new program approval protocols and advising the State Board of Education on issues related to educator certification has been professionally rewarding and challenging. I also serve as an Associate Member on the Technology Committee and Professional Practices Committee of the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC). Working with colleagues from across the nation to address issues related to teacher certification and teacher quality has been a very positive experience. In addition, I have participated in the Teacher Education Practices Commission (TEPC) in Arizona and Title II subcommittees in multiple states. I am a faculty member with the University of Phoenix Online campus.
The greatest joy in my life is my family. I have an amazing husband and two awesome boys, ages 8 and 5. We love to ride bicycles, hike and camp. We are on a mission to visit new places in Arizona. Although I have lived here for over 30 years there is so much I have never seen. We like to head out with our 'Roadside History of Arizona' and explore. I also enjoy reading and I especially like historical fiction.
Serving on the Governor’s Teacher Quality Committee is quite an honor and is a tremendous opportunity to work collaboratively with others to improve K-12 education for teachers and students in Arizona. |
