Holiday Hope

Governor Janet Napolitano

Welcome,

I wish you and your family a joyous and happy holiday season!

To commemorate the season, and to offer help to families who are struggling, I have issued a proclamation declaring December "Hope for the Holidays" month in Arizona.

'Together We Can Fight Hunger in Arizona'

Many families are struggling because of the difficult economy.  Some are even finding it hard to put food on the table.

Throughout the year, all of Arizona's food banks do an excellent job of helping individuals and families in need.  But the economy is challenging our food banks, too - demand is rising, yet donations are down.  Arizona's food banks are stretched thin and need our assistance.

This holiday season, I encourage all Arizonans to pitch in.  Please consider making an online monetary donation to the Association of Arizona Food Banks at www.azfoodbanks.org. You can direct your donation to a specific food bank in your community, and can even get information on how to organize a food drive in your area.

No one in Arizona should go hungry – especially during the holiday season. If we act together, we can make sure that Arizona families have the help they need during these difficult times.

Once again, the Web site for the Association of Arizona Food Banks is www.azfoodbanks.org. And, as always, you can contact my office with any questions or comments at 602-542-1318.

Yours very truly,

Janet Napolitano
Governor
