Governor’s Advisory Council on Aging has three standing committees.  Committee membership is comprised of Council members, state and community agency liaisons and members of the public. The meetings are open to the public.

The Legislative and Policy Coordinating Committee (LPCC) serves as a conduit for information, education and advocacy for Arizona seniors and collaborates with other organizations to recommend and achieve legislative and policy solutions.  The committee is comprised of individuals representing statewide and local aging organizations, and provides the Council with a wealth of information about the concerns of older adults in their communities.  The LPCC then develops recommendations for an advocacy agenda which serves as the foundation for the Council's work with government and community entities on policy issues relating to the needs of Arizona's seniors.  The LPCC is also the lead committee for Senior Action Days with the Legislature.
         
The Mature Workforce Committee (MWC) endeavors to increase the percentage of workers over 50 participating in Arizona’s workforce by promoting, preparing and providing opportunities for mature workers and employers to connect.  The MWC is comprised of representatives from private business and industry, non-profit agencies working with older adults, education and training organizations, and government agencies.  In 2005-2006 the Council held three Mature Worker Job Fairs and three Summits to bring employers and mature workers together to begin addressing our aging workforce.  The MWC is now working on a series of activities to help mature workers and employers connect.

The Social, Health and Alzheimer’s Committee (SHAC) works to promote dignity and independence for all seniors through advocacy, collaboration, education and resource development addressing social and health concerns, with a special awareness about the needs of people with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.  The SHAC includes a wide range of service providers, planners, agencies, and private citizens.  Of particular interest to the group is preventing falls, informal and family caregiving, and issues relating to Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. The committee also researches newly emerging issues and concerns that face older adults, works to formulate strategies for addressing them, and may also be involved in collaborative efforts to educate the public on health-related aging issues such as preventing falls.
