High gas prices continue to hit Arizona families hard.
Even though gasoline pricing remains largely outside the control of state governments, I am committed to doing all I can to help Arizona consumers. For example, the Arizona Department of Weights and Measures is responsible for ensuring that the pumps are accurate, and that the consumers receive the correct amount and quality of gasoline they purchased. In August 2005, I directed Weights and Measures to increase the rate of inspections of gasoline pumps; that effort continues today.
I will continue to remind the federal government that high gas prices are having a real impact on family budgets and the citizens of our state demand action.
